Courageous young boy is set to participate in a triathlon to raise funds for Fledge

Joe’s journey is extraordinary. Despite being a bright and healthy toddler, his tiptoe walking persisted and worsened, even with daily physiotherapy from age 3. After ruling out serious conditions, it was clear his rapid growth and tight calf muscles required surgery. In late 2021, Joe had an operation to release his muscles, followed by months in plaster and restrictive splints. By his 8th birthday in May 2022, he could stand with his feet flat for the firsts time. Intensive physiotherapy and his determination have since enabled him to participate in physical activities. Now, Joe is training for a Junior Triathlon.

Joe’s motivation stems from his strong belief that homelessness is a grave injustice. He is determined to make a difference and help those in need. His story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the impact one individual can have on their community.

The triathlon will take place on Saturday 26th October at Places Leisure, Eastleigh. All proceeds will go directly to supporting Fledge specifically to the young people we support. We believe that Joe’s story will inspire many and bring much-needed attention to the issue of homelessness.
